Emme

Emme- cute name, huh? I know someone who is naming their daughter Emme and I just had to steal it. I think I'm going to keep her a while, I really like her. Her hair is a really velvety material so it's very soft to the touch. All the material I used was from Goodwill. Her denim shoes are made from an old pair of jeans. She has little stitched hearts on her shoes and her dress which match her patchwork cheeks. For a change, I did the piece on her bottom that allows her to sit up out of the same paisley that the hearts and cheeks are made of. Oh, the top and arms are a fabric with little blue tea cups on it. Very cute. Anyway, I'm sure you're all getting bored of these doll posts, but I'm just like a proud mom every time I finish one, and Emme is my favorite so far.

This is the lovely birthday girl who was such a gracious host and a thankful child. I couldn't have been more proud of her.Annie was SO excited, all day long, to dance at Nat's party. Did she? Of course not!


A little clip of the girls doing the hula-I think there'll be one of the limbo stick as well! We had such a good time. We danced and sang and searched for underwater fish and I gave away one of my dolls as a prize!
The little girl who won her had just LOUDLY exclaimed, "I never win ANYTHING!" I'll have to make sure her mom knows she can't use that one anymore:) By the way, the little girl is SUCH a big "Scooby Doo" fan that the doll was immediately named Daphne. I couldn't have named her better myself. Aloha Daphne, have fun in your new home!

After all the guests had gone home, Nat came inside and said, "Mom, come outside with me."She held my hand until we reached a tree and said, "Mom, kneel down here, this is where I was praying. Lets pray together Mom." And so, we did. She thanked Jesus for saving her from her sins, for dying on the cross for her. She prayed for the little girls who couldn't come to her party because they were sick. She prayed for me, that I would be a good Mom and that God would bless me. She thanked Jesus for all her new toys and her friends. She prayed with eyes open, face lifted to the sky, palms outstretched on her lap. She asked me to pray for her, and so I did, voice cracking, tears on my face.

Mom's rarely get an unsolicited, pure glance into the souls of their children. I believe this was one of those times, and all I can think to do is thank God for such a wonderful child.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Nat's b-day was taxday, she's 5! We had a great day of breakfast at the bakery, going to the library, tea parties, shopping and dinner with friends. Her actual party is this Sunday, so we'll have some Hawaiian themed pics coming at you soon. I just can't believe how grown up she is.

Farther along on the evolutionary chain, Samantha and Sadie have opposable thumbs. They were given to a mother and daughter at church who I thought would really like them. They were both made out of recycled fabric either from clothes we had or fabric from Goodwill.

Two new dolls finished, pics to come! They're sisters, and both from original patterns. I love, love, love having a sewing machine! I haven't taken the opportunity yet to thank my wonderful friends Habeebe, Mia and Hummer for showing up on my doorstep with a NEW sewing machine. I am so blessed! Thanks guys!

Velleity

I get a word of the day e-mailed to me. I just loved the sound of this word. I think I have a natural proclivity towards velleity. My spell checker doesn't even recognize this word, guess I have a better vocabulary that it does:)

Flower Hairpin Joy

I made hairpins like these for Annie following a really simple tutorial, they're so much fun!! I thought I would share for all of you with little kiddos who love pretty things in their hair.
